My town, among many others from the mid-West to the mid-Atlantic were struck by a devastating and unique storm known as a Derecho. This incredibly amazing and oddly enough beautiful formation of a storm occurred Friday June 29th. Since then I, among thousands of others in Lynchburg have been without power. Though it’s not set to be fixed until Saturday, I’m very grateful for the AEP workers who have been hauling ass to restore power all over the state of Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, & Indiana.
At times like these I realize my fleeting existence in this world. “Live life like you were dying…,” in the words of Tim McGraw. I mean, though the song is laughable; a. it’s a country song b. it’s about seizing the day which is an easy way to climb the musical charts especially in the country music genre, it’s simple and true. And that’s just what I’m going to do… thanks Derecho for giving me a new motto to live by. (Sorry for the rabbit trail.)
